Some of the materials arrived today. The CPS students were a little exhuberant while opening the packages, but by the end of class, everything was organized and put away.

In math, we tried out the new microphones. It is now possible to videotape student discussions and be able to hear them!

CT worked hard today and got a high five from Mr. Webster!

My math students are loving 360 degree/whiteboard math. They continue to show comprehension of concepts. They are learning to take turns more in the groups too.

I am grateful for my colleagues. They made my day and that of my students by giving us cotton balls for our investigation into voluntary and involuntary response in science.

It was a warm day, but the students positive responses to their studies today, really took the edge off the heat.

This morning, I was greeted with smiles by several students long before the bell rang.

More 360 degree math today. Students are very attentive and on task for this type of activity.

I'm caught up on work in Google Classroom again.

Today is Australia Day and Mindy sent me this cute email! I wore my Australia shirt.

In Math, the students worked in groups on white boards to show their understanding. While many groups were confused as they tackled the problem, many more seemed to understand it after the class discussion. It was also easier to use the 5 practices with the work all up around the room.

Although write ups in Science are still lacking in correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling, I'm noticing more students trying to include evidence and reasoning in their lab notes.

CPS students were excited about the arduinos. They are hoping I get my act together quickly so they can start using them.

Science students enjoyed their Augmented Reality lesson about the Urinary System.

The Donors Choose Project is getting donations matched today and many of my friends, colleagues, and students donated.

Parent conference invitations are done!

Royal Solvers were very excited to begin building their own Google Sites.

Math students discussed the ratios they made in Google Slides. Some were videotaped. The discussions ranged from simple to complex. I was impressed. Students all seemed interested.

In Science, students used Kahoot to show their knowledge of body systems. It was apparent who has been studying. The discussions were good.

The recipients of my Thank you notes were very appreciative and took time to send notes letting me know they enjoyed the chocolate and the message.

Melinda and I had a discussion about writing skills and how to guide students to improve. She shared a document that we will both use to offer consistency.

Students listened attentively as I lectured about CER. Claim-Evidence-Reasoning. I also found a video from a Science teacher that made good points.

The Rio STEAM Academy Teachers met today and refreshed our vision for opening next school year. It was good to be together again. We were served a lovely lunch from The Olive Garden so were able to continue discussions through lunch. Olivia and Bill presented information about the furniture.

During the day, several students completed assignments within Google Classroom. I was notified by email. It's good to know that students are on task.

During breaks, I was able to get a breath of fresh air and a nice walk.
