Week of 27 August 2018

This year I am changing the way I use this blog. My days have been overflowing with things to do and places to be. Therefore, I am going to have weekly positives instead of daily positives. The last thing I want to do is add stress to my days.

My grade level colleagues continue to be helpful, encouraging, and kind. This makes every day more joyful.

Students were active participants in Wednesday's PE.

My students are enjoying the variety of morning greetings. They enjoyed the polyhedra die on Tuesday and Wednesday and the light up ball on Thursday.

Transitions from one activity to another are improving.

Thursday:
The students had some lively discussions as they did their first ever Quizlet.live this year. They were sad when the activity ended.

The first Chalk Talk also happened today and I was impressed with how well students understood the activity and completed it.

Marker Mingle is when the students read all the posters in the room.

On Friday, the 6th graders finally set foot on Rio del Sol soil! They toured the campus, participated in several activities, and met with and read to their buddy classmates.

2nd through 4th day of 2018-19

I'm very impressed with how well students are working together. They are good listeners when I read aloud. They are hard workers when given a task: Name Art, Math Pattern questioning, writing a paragraph, etc. Students worked with classmates and with grade level partners.

Dr. Cordova visited and the students were excited to meet their Director of Learning.

Here are some highlights from the week.

2018-19 First day of Rio del Sol Grade 6 at del Mar

The students were very excited about the first day of school and I even received a gift!

My brother helped out by taking video of students during their Engineering Design Challenge.

The 6th grade team is amazing! Great collaborators, supporters, and wonderful educators. The staff at Rio del Mar has been welcoming, helpful, and supportive. It was a great first day.
